Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 229 – 8/2/2017

welcome to a wild moon ride month full of light, love, joy, peace and traveling in an awakened way on the path of transformation moving more deeply into the sacred space of wholehearted emptiness… when we feel the rug has been pulled out from under us, when we feel we are groundless stillness, when we feel the reality of non-dwelling, of being exploded and dissolved into the atmosphere, then, we come home to the heart, one with all that is… here is a beautiful blessing for all our relatives as we travel the awakened spirit path…

Every time you leave home,
Another road takes you
Into a world you were never in.

New strangers on other paths await.
New places that have never seen you
Will startle a little at your entry.
Old places that know you well
Will pretend nothing
Changed since your last visit.

When you travel, you find yourself
Alone in a different way,
More attentive now
To the self you bring along,
Your more subtle eye watching
You abroad; and how what meets you
Touches that part of the heart
That lies low at home:

How you unexpectedly attune
To the timbre in some voice,
Opening in conversation
You want to take in
To where your longing
Has pressed hard enough
Inward, on some unsaid dark,
To create a crystal of insight
You could not have known
You needed
To illuminate
Your way.

When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you toward
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life,
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.

May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 228 – 8/1/2017

Aloha Astonishing August! For almost a year now, beginning August 14 2017, i’ve been posting weekly segments on the astonishing light of being…  with so much light today and so much pouring in throughout this amazing moon, it calls for an honoring of divine light consciousness… a quest-ion i’m asking everyone is, are you noticing even when your eyes are totally shut and you are in darkness, you are still feeling so much light? it’s as if our eyelid veils are lifting and light is everywhere… let’s turn now to a favorite poem on how to paint this light…

~

I asked a hundred painters and a hundred poets
how to paint sunlight
on the face of life
Their answers were ambiguous and ingenuous
as if they were all guarding trade secrets
Whereas it seems to me
all you have to do
is conceive of the whole world
and all humanity
as a kind of art work
a site-specific art work
an art project of the god of light
the whole earth and all that’s in it
to be painted with light

And the first thing you have to do
is paint out postmodern painting
And the next thing is to paint yourself
in your true colors
in primary colors
as you see them
(without whitewash)
paint yourself as you see yourself
without make-up
without masks
Then paint your favorite people and animals
with your brush loaded with light
And be sure you get the perspective right
and don’t fake it
because one false line leads to another

And then paint the high hills
when the sun first strikes them
on an autumn morning
with your palette knife
lay it on
the cadmium yellow leaves
the ochre leaves
the vermillion leaves
of the New England autumn
and paint the ghost light of summer nights
and the light of the midnight sun
which is moon light
And don’t paint out the shadows made by light

for without chiaroscuro you’ll have shallow pictures
So paint all the dark corners too
everywhere in the world
all the hidden places and minds and hearts
which light never reaches
all the caves of ignorance and fear
the pits of despair
the sloughs of despond
and write plain upon them
“Abandon all despair, ye who enter here”

And don’t forget to paint
all those who lived their lives
as bearers of light
Paint their eyes
and the eyes of every animal
and the eyes of beautiful women
known best for the perfection of their breasts
and the eyes of men and women
known only for the light of their minds
Paint the light of their eyes
the light of sunlit laughter
the song of eyes
the song of birds in flight.

And remember that the light is within
if it is anywhere
and you must paint from the inside
Start with purity
with pure white
the pure white of gesso
the pure white of cadmium white
the pure white of flake white
the pure virgin canvas
the pure life we all begin with

Turner painted sunlight
with egg tempera
(which proved unstable)
and Van Gogh did it with madness
and the blood of his ear
(also unstable)
and the Impressionists did it
by never using black
And the Abstract Expressionists did it
with white house paint
But you can do it with the pure pigment
(if you can figure out the formula)
of your own true light
But before you strike the first blow
on the virgin canvas
remember its fragility
life’s extreme fragility
and remember its innocence
its original innocence
before you strike the first blow

Or perhaps never strike it
And let the light come through
the inner light of the canvas
the inner light of the models posed
in the life study
the inner light of everyone
Let is all come through
like a pentimento
the light that’s been painted over
the life that’s been painted over
so many times
Let it surge to the surface
the painted-over image
of primal life on earth

And when you’ve finished your painting
stand back astonished
stand back and observe
the life on earth that you’ve created
the lighted life on earth
that you’ve created
a new brave world

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 227 – 7/31/2017

in this moment of pregnant pause, i see us standing still and simultaneously moving at the speed of light on a high dune dedicated to free flight and deep dives into blessing this belonging space we share… this, on the brink of a new world, space where we realize there is no separation… this stillpoint at the center of our circle, the hub of the wheel where all that is, is still, where everything is oh so real, where the peace that passeth all understanding is palpable calling us into deep silence…. listen, listen to the cosmic hum… listen, listen to our heartbeat’s drum… listen, listen for the sound of the bell syncing our breathing to the mantra of all is well… deep peace of the running wave to you, deep peace, deep peace, deep peace…

may we all awaken to the beauty of who we are… one cosmos, one web, one tribe, one family, one being, one ocean, one love, one…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 226 – 7/30/2017

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being.”

~ Hafiz of Shariz ~

it’s an honor to celebrate you of the visionary spirit, you who share so generously the energy of beloved community, the spirit of the only true power, the medicine of unconditional love… you who gather together across the planet to welcome the stranger, to speak truth to false power, to stand for equality, liberation, justice and peace… you who light up all our relations with staying true and standing strong in wisdom and love… you who embody the wisdom of the sage, Howard Zinn…

To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something, If we remember those times and places — and there are so many — where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however a small way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.

thank you for the astonishing light of your being…

today’s pilgrimage is a luxuriating in love, a love so big, boundless love, a love living us, inspiring us to live wholeheartedly the Hell YES! life, a love breaking open our one heart and tuning, attuning us deeper and deeper into divine frequency… moving us at the speed of light into stillness where there’s only the dance of our fractal family, a mirror image of the one family we are come together to share sacred space and dream the collective dream forward of how to be in the world and not of the world dancing, uniting heaven and earth…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 224 – 7/28/2017

I’m at home wherever I am
And in the room of lovers
I can see with closed eyes
the beauty that dances

Behind the veils
intoxicated with love
I too dance the rhythm
of this moving world

I have lost my senses
in my world of lovers

~ Rumi ~

today’s pilgrimage finds me awash in sixty-four names of love with sixty-four doubled beings of love…

Thus shall ye think of this fleeting world: A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream; A flash of lightning in a summer cloud; A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.
~Diamond Sutra~

~

a day of presence…. contemplating impermanence in our unitive field where everything is in whirling flux… like the ocean, all is moving and transforming from wave to wave, breath to breath… like the moon, we cycle again and again through phases, always changing from moment to moment…

diving deeper into the wondering, we enter the stillpoint trusting the center will hold…. breathe into the center and surrender to great mother who cradles us like a newborn while we rock gently back and forth like the waves feeling the support of the ocean of love, home to grandmother who loves us so…

smiling that in a world that is always turning, in a world where the constant is change, always love remains… love is all there is…

…And this was my true task, to be the
music of the body.  Do you understand? for truly the body needs
a song, a spirit, a soul.  And no less, to make this work,
the soul has need of a body,
and I am both of the earth and I am of the inexplicable
beauty of heaven
where I fly so easily, so welcome, yes,
and this is why I have been sent, to teach this to your heart.”
~ Mary Oliver ~

may our one heart listen deeply and hear the soul song, the cosmic hum vibrational wave rising and deepening in us all awakening the flowing soul song…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 221 – 7/25/2017

today’s continuation of the Turn Around the Sun Re-Creation Manifestival birth celebration is one flowing moment in the field of the beloved seeing, feeling and being awash in love everywhere… in friends’ expressions, in strangers’ conversations, in flies buzzing around the picnic, in long lines where patience reigns, in screaming children crying out in frustration, in jubilant children of all ages restored by the sound  and the feel of water and wind, in puppies frolicking with the waves… every moment of presence, a birth of love… all our light wave relations coming home to the shore breathing in the rhythm of the river of joy below the river while always being love…

~

“In the process of discovering bodhichitta, the journey goes down, not up. It’s as if the mountain pointed toward the center of the earth instead of reaching into the sky. Instead of transcending the suffering of all creatures, we move toward the turbulence and doubt. We jump into it. We slide into it. We tiptoe into it. We move toward it however we can. We explore the reality and unpredictably of insecurity and pain, and we try not to push it away. If it takes years, if it takes lifetimes, we let it be as it is. At our own pace, without speed or aggression, we move down and down and down. With us move millions of others, our companions in awakening from fear. At the bottom we discover water, the healing water of bodhichitta. Right down there in the thick of things, we discover the love that will not die.”

—Pema Chödrön from When Things Fall Apart

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 220 – 7/24/2017

dreaming in waves’ rhythm at the bottom of the sea

sunrise mists enshroud this space – the silence of eternity…

breathing in, we are home for home is where the heart resides

breathing out, we dance spiraling love, flowing with the tides…

standing with each other, we come together now

in this present moment, to imagine the visionary how…

how for us all to know the world as belonging space

and for us all to feel earth mother’s flowing grace…

the ocean whispers softly, her voice emphatic and clear

love one another, hold this wisdom dear…

thanks be for this day like no other, this day coming only once… this day crystallized into one precious moment, a moment of presence, moment of now… a moment to wade in the waters in the ocean of devotion, to be carried away on the wings of love dwelling lightly in the heavens above… singing the true song to earth below, waiting for the light to glow…
