Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 273- 9/15/2023

how appropriate on the ides of september to have had a lucid dream 8 years ago of an immense tidal wave towering over me, a dream familiar to me of the tidal wave facing me, being in a state of suspension pondering whether i could open myself to the strength flowing through the cosmos, do i have it in me to hold the tension, to feel the dissolution, the loss, can i summon the courage to walk the path with heart? in this moment there is no desperation or panic… butterflies, yes, and a deep relaxed reflective posture… to merge with the sea, to leap in wholeheartedly or to panic and tense?

the pull of the heart of the ocean of love is so much more powerful so it’s quite natural to make this organic shift into heart consciousness, divine flow dancing in rhythm with the energies of life…

today i see great spirit in the wave in a new way… as a dolphin eagle dog… the more i look into the wave, the more i tune into the breath of great spirit, the more i can deepen into breaking down to breaking through to freedom…

yes, Don Juan, all paths are the same for the journey is the destination, it is the process not the outcome, the coming home to the heart, to the now here…

yes, choose a path with heart, follow it wholeheartedly and rejoice in the moment of this extravagant journey that is life, the quintessential pilgrimage…

may we all travel a path with heart open to the strength and support and peace of our ever more abundant cosmos generously gifting us whatever is needed…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 272- 9/14/2023

on this new moon in virgo of manifestation, may we all listen for the cosmic soul song… here is the virgin goddess drawing down the energy of the dark moon and singing of being virgin, one in yourself and owning the astonishing light of your being:

under the dark moon be reborn,

witness your intentions take sacred form

believe in the energy flowing through

align with source for dreams to come true

re-member in every molecule who you are,

a free and easy wanderer, a dancing star

dance boldly on the pathless path, sing with glee

under this new moon of rainbow mystery,

transformation is ours, blessed bee…

every moment is pregnant with the promise of peace… with every breath under the new moon of planting seeds, may we intend peace; re-membering we are peace, may we all be peace with every breath… for all the moments of today, may we join with all that is in a heartfelt effort to be peace for our cosmos…

~

New Moon in Virgo Peace Invocation

We call on all noble hearts to find within the light of love and divinity that dwells in us from time immemorial, since their souls have existed…
May this light … expand on the earth showering her face with peace and harmony…
May this light … calm and harmonize the black shadow of war, violence, hate and disharmony…
May this light … fill the hearts of all and the sites of nations where the shadow of violence has found a place to stay.

May this light reach the hearts and minds of ALL the Heads of State,
of ALL leaders of the revolution from  right to left from north to south…

We extend our profound gratitude to all the medicine people of the world, all men, women and children from  different cultures, races and creeds, from all cardinal directions who have joined us and those who will join us in this effort to raise a prayer for peace…

We wash away the cries of the distressed, the blood of the victims of violence, the pain of their families.

May their cries be replaced by the innocent laughter of children, the ideals of youth and the wisdom of life of our elders.
May we no longer know the signs of strife: to hear birds singing sorrows, nor watch clouds stained with blood, nor feel breezes intense with heat, nor see rivers swollen by the mountains’ tears…
May new bonds of unity and peace form through our reciting this invocation together  embracing humanity in cosmic harmony…

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

~

“This is how you change
when you go to the orchard
where the heart opens:

you become
fragrance and the light
that burning oil gives off,

long strands of grieving hair, lion
and at the same time, gazelle.

You’re walking alone without feet,
as riverwater does.

The taste of a wine that is bitter and sweet,
seen and unseen, neither wet nor dry,
like Jesus reaching to touch.

A new road appears without desirous imagining,
inside God’s breath, empty, where you quit saying
the name and there’s no distance,
no calling dove-coo.

A window, a wild rose at the field’s edge,
you’ll be me,
but don’t feel proud or happy.

Bend like the limb of a peach tree.
Tend those who need help.
Disappear three days with the moon.

Don’t pray to be healed, or look for evidence
of “some other world.”
You are the soul
and medicine for what wounds the soul.”

~ Rumi ~

walking the camino of peace into the unitive field out beyond is such a deepening and widening and inspiriting of the open heart of soul transporting me into a cave of illumination and silence and is a perfect prelude to the next adventure of moving into a season of letting go and emptying to return into the deep earth as the dark becomes more and more the landscape in the northern hemisphere marked by celebrating the holy day of equinox soon and with the new moon of balance tomorrow … in these intense moments of the great turning, i join in the ubuntu mantra and ask for peace for all re-membering peace is the way to peace and peace begins with each me of all our relations… deep bows…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 270- 9/12/2023

in this sacred moment of eternity, may we trust in our soul song, the who we really are and may our moments in the river of life be filled with delight, flow with ease and blessed with wisdom… to anchor this in our one cosmic heart, let’s take a deep breath, bear witness to the unfolding of great mystery and unwrap a present of presence available to us with every breath…

For Presence

“Awaken to the mystery of being here
and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to
follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of
soul.
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek
no attention.
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.…”

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 269- 9/11/2023

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

such a conscious quest i’m on these last six years to do just that – to awaken every wild cell in this one cell of the one body we all are and what an adventure transmuting the lead into gold…

on this iconic day of flames etched in the collective unconscious, on this 9-11 day i re-member six years ago when my fire eye, the eye suffering a devastating injury surrendered to the inflammation process that had been percolating for so many moons… the pain was as intense as when the eye had been first been clawed and once again it was not looking good… shuttled from hospital department to department for tests and more tests, i stayed in constant communion with beloved expressing my doubts about being up for this calling to surrender and awaken in the most transformational way to date… this intense purification has geometrically progressed turn around the sun after turn around the sun for these last many moons opening me and so many others to the deepest, most conscious awakening initiation ever…

as with all calls to initiation, i (and i know i am in great company) did not feel i had it in me to make this pilgrimage and, yet, in surrendering to limited outer sight, a rhythm of  synchronisiddhi, of meaningful co-incidence followed opening my broken heart to a heart broken wide open… holy synchronicity, in this deep pool of reflection, a re-membering flows by… today is also the tenth anniversary of the first outer poetic peace pilgrimage, a day when i connected with Sacajawea who vowed to guide me through the wilder-ness…

poised on the precipice of the beginning of the seventh year of this conscious awakening cycle, it’s so interesting to find myself once again in the midst of making another leap onward, another strenuous challenge catapulting me into another letting go and emptying to make space for the new world…

thanks be for the awakening project we call life guided by the inspirited soul emphatically, magnetically pulling us home to be instruments of peace, hollow reeds, channels for source energy to pour the creative elixir of love through…

so, on a day such as this, under the spell of this moment of eternity, may we let go of  the inessential and re-member what truly matters is who we really are…

in closing, on this 22nd anniversary of 9-11, may we have the courage to face whatever is, both inner and outer, and hear the cries of the world and ourselves… may we listen to the old master and transmute the darkness within by sitting quietly, invoking the invisible reams and plugging into source energy to empower right action… the wisdom of the serpent coupled with the gentleness of the lamb…

another day of re-membering, a day of moment after moment of connecting the dots, a day of walking through the shadowlands and taking one more step and one more step, a day of surrendering all to the call to be true, a day of  centering in the stillpoint listening deeply to ancestors’ whispers while viewing the moon: empty, surrender, let go, be present, relax, trust, open our one heart a little wider receiving the eternal unstoppable flow, a day of dancing divinely on the rainbow trail made all the more special by dancing with beautiful relatives of the serving spirit tribe… thousand fold thanks…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 268- 9/10/2023

thank you dear friends for sharing this journey, this wandering into wonder… i’m going to close today’s spiral dance as i opened it over 3500 days ago with immortal Rumi’s words…

If you are seeking, seek us with joy
For we live in the kingdom of joy.
Do not give your heart to anything else
But to the love of those who are clear joy,
Do not stray into the neighborhood of despair.
For there are hopes: they are real, they exist –
Do not go in the direction of darkness –
I tell you: suns exist.

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 267- 9/9/2023

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

walking the camino today is a day of deeply breathing and dancing in the chaos on this day of nines which is the number of transformation and is an energy resonating so profoundly through me on the ninth day of the ninth month as i take refuge in the blissness blue moon lodge, because blue moon lodges are the lodges for transformation, of transformation…

today’s walk along the camino of peace brings up the words of the Dalai Lama about our island home desperately needing more peacemakers, healers, restorers, lovers and storytellers which reminds me of an old legend of the first peoples of this land…

this legend about a savior named deganawida, the peacemaker, originated over a thousand years ago during the final decades of pre-columbian america at a time like now, a time of pervasive fear and instability in the iroquois world when a young virgin gave birth to a son… she was told in a dream that “your child will be a messenger of the creator and will bring peace and harmony to the people on earth.”

when deganawida came of age he told his mother, “I shall now build my canoe from white stone, for the time has come for me to start my mission in this world. I know I must travel afar on lakes and rivers to seek out the council smoke of nations beyond this lake. It is now time for me to go stop the shedding of blood among human beings.”

as deganawida began his mission he first encountered a group of hunters who were fleeing from the bloodshed in the their own village and he instructed them: “Go back to your people and tell them that the Good News of Peace and Righteousness has come to your nation.”

the peacemaker’s mission, as the many accounts of the legend make clear, was to reestablish the natural equilibrium on which the well being of individuals, societies, and the whole of creation depends… deganawida achieved this mission by healing them—by “making their minds straight.” deganawida’s role was not that of a warrior, but a redemptive shaman—a healer… he was quite explicit about the mission: “health means peace, for that is what comes when minds are sane and bodies are cared for.”

on this day of transformation, may we all be peacemakers every moment…

yes, make us instruments of thy peace and where there is hatred  let us sow love and where there is despair, hope and where there is darkness, light…

om, shanti, shanti, shantihi…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 266- 9/8/2023

May you find in me the Mother of the World.
May my heart be a mother’s heart, my hands be a mother’s hands.
May my response to your suffering be a mother’s response to your suffering.
May I sit with you in the dark, like a mother sits in the dark.
May you know through our relationship that there is something in this world that can be trusted.

in honor of the day known as Mother Mary’s birth and World Interdependence Day – love that synchronisiddhi – in this moon of amazing portals opening us to visioning a world where we all belong to each other, a world of love and compassion, let’s turn to one who speaks for us of love and compassion. this basic issue on which our survival depends… hear now HH, the Dalai Lama…

“I believe that at every level of society—familial, national and international—the key to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion. We do not need to become religious, nor do we need to believe in a particular ideology. All that is necessary is for each of us to develop our good human qualities. I believe that the cultivation of individual happiness can contribute in a profound and effective way to the overall improvement of the entire human community.

We all share an identical need for love, and on the basis of this commonality, it is possible to feel that anybody we meet, in whatever circumstances, is a brother or sister. No matter how new the face or how different the dress or behavior, there is no significant division between us and other people. It is foolish to dwell on external differences because our basic natures are the same.

The benefits of transcending such superficial differences become clear when we look at our global situation. Ultimately, humanity is one and this small planet is our only home. If we are to protect this home of ours, each of us needs to experience a vivid sense of universal altruism and compassion. It is only this feeling that can remove the self-centered motives that cause people to deceive and misuse one another. If you have a sincere and open heart, you naturally feel self-worth and confidence, and there is no need to be fearful of others.

The need for an atmosphere of openness and cooperation at the global level is becoming more urgent. In this modern age, when it comes to dealing with economic situations there are no longer familial or even national boundaries. From country to country and continent to continent, the world is inextricably interconnected. Each country depends heavily on the others. In order for a country to develop its own economy, it is forced to take seriously into account the economic conditions of other countries as well. In fact, economic improvement in other countries ultimately results in economic improvement in one’s own country.

In view of these facts about our modern world, we need a total revolution in our thinking and our habits. It is becoming clearer every day that a viable economic system must be based on a true sense of universal responsibility. In other words, what we need is a genuine commitment to the principles of universal brotherhood and sisterhood. This much is clear, isn’t it? This is not just a holy, moral or religious ideal. Rather, it is the reality of our modem human existence.

If you reflect deeply enough, it becomes obvious that we need more compassion and altruism everywhere. This critical point can be appreciated by observing the current state of affairs in the world, whether in the fields of modern economics and health care, or in political and military situations. In addition to the multitude of social and political crises, the world is also facing an ever-increasing cycle of natural calamities. Year after year, we have witnessed a radical shifting of global climatic patterns that has led to grave consequences: excessive rain in some countries that has brought serious flooding, a shortage of precipitation in other countries that has resulted in devastating droughts. Fortunately, concern for ecology and the environment is rapidly growing everywhere. We are now beginning to appreciate that the question of environmental protection is ultimately a question of our very survival on this planet. As human beings, we must also respect our fellow members of the human family: our neighbors, our friends, and so forth. Compassion, loving-kindness, altruism, and a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood are the keys not only to human development, but to planetary survival.

The success or failure of humanity in the future depends primarily upon the will and determination of the present generation. If we ourselves do not utilize our faculties of will and intelligence, there is no one else who can guarantee our future and that of the next generation. This is an indisputable fact. We cannot place the entire blame on politicians or those people who are seen as directly responsible for various situations; we too must bear some responsibility personally. It is only when the individual accepts personal responsibility that he or she begins to take some initiative. Just shouting and complaining is not good enough. A genuine change must first come from within the individual, then he or she can attempt to make significant contributions to humanity. Altruism is not merely a religious ideal; it is an indispensable requirement for humanity at large.”

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 265- 9/7/2023

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

layer by layer, i am removing all i thought i was and had to be leaving me being in this moment of eternity naked in the now and open to what is sans attachment to identities re-membering simply, i am…

~

“I AM pure consciousness, the underlying essence of all elements and beings.
I AM the innate nature of everything.
In pure water I AM the sweet taste.
In the sun and moon I AM the radiance.
In the very center of human beings I live as virility and courage.
I AM the sacred word Om, which is an appellation of the Divine , and I AM the sound of it heard throughout the universe.
I AM the slight, delicate scent, the sweet fragrance of the earth.
I AM the brilliance in both fire and sun, and I AM the light of Divinity in all beings.
I AM the subtle spirit in spiritual practices that gives them their existence– for example, the love in the devotee, the austerity in the ascetic, the sweet sense of charity in the giver.”

~ the Bhagavad Gita ~

~

under this moon of soulfulness, may we dance devocean seeing blessings everywhere while shedding old skins like trees dropping leaves so that we live simply, we simply live free to open the portal to the river below the river resting gently on grandmother’s lap witnessing and waiting for the water to settle trusting in the inner knowing that it will and the way becomes clear…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 10 – Day 264- 9/6/2023

for whenever we need a cup of courage in dancing the pathless path of heart:

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

“A true vocation requires shedding anything that would impede or obscure the call. A true pilgrimage requires letting go of the very things most people try to hold onto. In seeking after what the soul desires we become pilgrims with no home but the path the soul would have us follow. As the old proverb says, “Before you begin the journey, you own the journey. Once you have begun, the journey owns you.” After all, what good is a dream that doesn’t test the mettle of the dreamer? What good is a path that doesn’t carry us to the edge and then beyond that place? A true calling involves a great exposure before it can become a genuine refuge.”
~ Michael Meade ~

while walking the camino of peace and purification today, i am tempted to come off the pilgrimage and distract myself from this calling of leaping into the great unknown and so i return to the breath, come home to the stillpoint, the present moment, the calling…

The Journey

“Above the mountains
the geese turn into
the light again

Painting their
black silhouettes
on an open sky.

Sometimes everything
has to be
inscribed across
the heavens

so you can find
the one line
already written
inside you.

Sometimes it takes
a great sky
to find that

small, bright
and indescribable
wedge of freedom
in your own heart.

Sometimes with
the bones of the black
sticks left when the fire
has gone out

someone has written
something new
in the ashes of your life. You are not leaving
you are arriving.”
