Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 291 – 10/3/2021

Halleluiah

“Everyone should be born into this world happy
and loving everything.
But in truth it rarely works that way.
For myself, I have spent my life clamoring toward it.
Halleluiah, anyway I’m not where I started!

And have you too been trudging like that, sometimes
almost forgetting how wondrous the world is
and how miraculously kind some people can be?
And have you too decided that probably nothing important
is ever easy?
Not, say, for the first sixty years.

Halleluiah, I’m sixty now, and even a little more,
and some days I feel I have wings.”

~ Mary Oliver ~

oh, beloved sangha of imaginal cells, dreamweavers of wisdom and wonder, on this third day of october odyssea, ode to the sea, the magical mystery tour of pilgrimaging into the depths of our one heart offers a wealth of riches to celebrate as it is the moment of eternity of celebrating the astonishing light of being and the births of two more amazing peacemakers – St Francis and Chase the Rainbow…

after injoying some astonishing light of being moments with one who was born into this world happy loving everything and with a smile that lights up the whole cosmos, i join Mary in feeling i have wings and yes, i am flying across the vast skysea of love energy painting a world of peace…

imagine we’ve met in the field pictured here and as we deeply conspire together, breathe together, see and feel a bubble of light surrounding your physical body and extending out about four feet around you…

now imagine this bubble is a window, a circular skylight and simply with your intention open the window as wide as you can connecting with the enormous steams of light flowing down from the upper worlds, the plasma fields, the akasha, the sami, the energy flow of creation flowing through you and breaking up and releasing any blockages, issues, dams to compost them into the deep earth…

the sami, the electric light stream, continues to flow down into the earth engendering a reciprocal response from our earth mother with an ascending magnetic flow of energy of unconditional love whispering that it’s safe to be here, all is well…

feel your heart opening and your mind stilling as these two streams of energy flow simultaneously creating a sense of loving peaceful presence as we expand out and deepen further and further into the planet, the soular system, the galaxies out to the edges of creation and beyond where we experience SELF as the infinite one, the one consciousness, we are the drop dissolving into the ocean of being, surrendering to, softening into flow…

may this doorway between the worlds always stay open in each wild and beautiful moment of eternity and may we step up as conscious, co-creating imaginal cells of liberation breathing in the new /ancient cosmic template of peace, of harmony, of unity, of generosity, of beauty and belonging with all relatives real-eye-sing i am because you are…

and so it is… blessed bee eternally…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 290 – 10/2/2021

what a perfect day to launch our october odyssea where every day is devoted to breaking our one heart open ever more widely and deeply as we celebrate today the life of gandhi, the being who taught us ahimsa, the law of love, on this day of his birth anniversary and i celebrate one of the dearest of beings who is 52 weeks today and who is ahimsa… in honor of all beings of ahimsa, let us give our full attention and intention to a master of this walk, HH the Dalai Lama…

CULTIVATE AN OPEN HEART

“I believe that every human being has an innate desire for happiness and does not want to suffer. I believe that each of us has the same potential to develop inner peace and thereby achieve happiness and joy. If one has a positive mental attitude then, even when surrounded by hostility, one will not lack inner peace. On the other hand, if one’s mental attitude is more negative, influenced by fear, suspicion, helplessness, or self-loathing, then, even when surrounded by one’s best friends, in a nice atmosphere and comfortable surroundings, one will not be happy.

In my own case, at the age of 16, I lost my freedom, and at 24, I lost my country. I have been a refugee for the last forty years, with heavy responsibilities. As I look back, my life has not been easy. However, throughout all these years I learned about compassion, about caring for others. This mental attitude has brought me inner strength. One of my favorite prayers,  translated roughly, is:

So long as space remains,
So long as sentient beings remain,
I will remain,
In order to help, in order to serve,
In order to make my own contribution.

That sort of thinking has brought purpose to my life. No matter how difficult or complicated things may be, if we have this type of mental attitude we can have inner peace.

Spiritual growth need not be based on religious faith. I believe that the methods by which we increase our altruism, our sense of caring for others, and by which we develop the attitude that our own individual concerns are less important than those of others, are common to all major religious traditions. Though we may find differences in philosophical views and rites, all religions advocate love, compassion, and forgiveness. And even persons who do not believe in religion can appreciate the virtues of basic human values.

Since our very existence and well-being are a result of the cooperation and contributions of countless others, we must have a proper attitude and way of relating to them. In the past, countries, regions, and even villages were economically independent of one another. Under those circumstances the destruction of one’s enemy might have been a victory for oneself. Today we are so interdependent that the concept of war has become outdated. When we face problems or disagreements today, we have to arrive at solutions through dialogue. We cannot destroy our neighbors! We cannot ignore their interests! Doing so would ultimately cause us to suffer.

Non-violence does not mean that we remain indifferent to a problem. On the contrary, it is important to be fully engaged. However, we must do so in a way that does not benefit us alone. We must not harm the interests of others. Non-violence, therefore, is not merely the absence of violence. It involves a sense of compassion and caring. I strongly believe that we must promote non-violence at the level of the family as well as at the national and international levels.

We must try to develop greater perspective, looking at situations from all angles. Usually, when we face problems ,we look at them from our own point of view. We even sometimes deliberately ignore other aspects of a situation. This often leads to negative consequences.

Sometimes, due to a very small matter, a fight starts between a husband and wife, or a parent and child. If you focus merely on the immediate problem, then yes, it really is worth fighting and quarreling. It is even worth divorcing! However, looking at the situation with more perspective, we see that though there is a problem, there is also a common interest. You can come to feel, “This is a small problem which I must solve by dialogue, not by drastic measures.” We can thereby develop a non-violent atmosphere within our own family, as well as within our community.

Another important practice in training our minds involves learning to distinguish between the negative qualities of conceit or arrogance and those of positive pride or self-confidence. In my own practice, when I have an arrogant feeling, “Oh, I’m somehow special,” I say to myself, “I’m a human being and a Buddhist monk. I thereby have a great opportunity to practice the spiritual path leading to Buddhahood.” I then compare myself to a small insect in front of me and think, “This little insect is very weak, with no capacity to think about philosophical matters. It has no ability to develop altruism. In spite of the opportunity I have, I behave in this stupid way.” If I judge myself from this point of view, the insect is definitely more honest and sincere than I am.

Human emotions are very powerful and sometimes overwhelm us. This can lead to disasters. I think that anger and hatred actually cause more harm to us than to the person responsible for our problem. Imagine that your neighbor hates you and is always creating problems for you. If you lose your temper and develop hatred toward him, your digestion will be bad, your sound sleep will go, and you will have to start to use tranquilizers and sleeping pills. You will have to increase the doses of these, which will harm your body. Your mood will be affected, and as a result your old friends will hesitate to visit you. You will gradually have more white hair and wrinkles, and you may eventually develop more serious health problems. Then your neighbor will be really happy. Without having inflicted any physical harm he will have fulfilled his wish!

If, in spite of his injustices, you remain calm, happy, and peaceful, your health will remain strong, you will continue to be joyful, and more friends will come to visit you. Your life will become more successful. This will really bring about worry in your neighbor’s mind. I think that this is the wise way to inflict harm upon your neighbor. You must not consider tolerance and patience to be signs of weakness. I consider them signs of strength.

When we are faced with a person or group of people wishing us harm, we can view this as an opportunity to develop patience and tolerance. We need these qualities; they are useful to us. And the only occasion we have to develop them is when we are challenged by an enemy. So, from this point of view, our enemy is our Guru, our teacher. Irrespective of their motivation, from our point of view they are very beneficial, a blessing.

There is a Buddhist practice where one imagines giving the source of all joy to another person, thereby removing all their suffering. Though of course we cannot change their situation, I do feel that in some cases, through a genuine sense of caring and compassion, through our sharing in their plight, our attitude can help alleviate that person’s suffering, if only mentally. However, the main point of this practice is to increase our inner strength and courage.

I have chosen a few lines that I feel would be acceptable to people of all faiths, and even to those with no spiritual belief. When reading these lines, if you are a religious practitioner, you can reflect upon the divine form that you worship. A Christian can think of Jesus or God; a Muslim can reflect upon Allah. Then, while reciting these verses, make the commitment to enhance your spiritual values. If you are not religious, you can reflect upon the fact that, fundamentally, all beings are equal to you in their wish for happiness and their desire to overcome suffering. Recognizing this, you make a pledge to develop a good heart. It is most important that we have a warm heart. As long as we are part of human society, it is very important to be a kind, warm-hearted person.

May the poor find wealth,
Those weak with sorrow find joy.
May the forlorn find new hope,
Constant happiness and prosperity.
May the frightened cease to be afraid,
And those bound be free.”

well come to october odyssea where every day is a magical mystery tour into the cave of illumination devoted to breaking our one heart open ever more widely and deeply so we re-member who we truly are…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 288 – 9/30/2021

today is such a special blessing the space moment of eternity as we close this sacred moonth of september, a moon of  being silently drawn  by the pull of surrendering to love – thank you, dear Rumi, and happiest of turns around the sun on this 814th anniversary of your birth…

blessing the space of a moon of our continued witnessing of the world’s great turning, one long moon moment of intensity and chaos as we are pushed to the edge and over the edge awaiting the birth of a dan-sing star…

let’s close this moon together by syncing with our beloved earth mother sitting in circle around the central sun finding a place where we are comfortable, let go of any doing… now, take a full breath – holding it for a moment and then releasing it completely… and, another full breath – holding it for a moment and then releasing it completely… and, one more deep cleansing breath…

continue breathing slowly, deeply and without effort – releasing all doing, simply witnessing the easing of stress and tension in the body… notice any place that feels tight and release the tension feeling a softening around that area… as we continue to breathe in, let’s begin to draw our attention within with every breath… notice any thoughts and release them gently…

now, draw your attention to our earthmother – no matter where we are sitting, let’splace our attention on the earth below our feet… is it soft and verdant or hard and frozen? our earth – our home – our Mother… notice a pulsing, vibration of energy and draw that connection up through the feet, up through the sitz bones – wherever we are connected with our earthmother – and draw that energy up into your first chakra noticing the grounding and connection…

continuing to breathe fully, deeply and with ease, notice your attention and bring it gently and effortlessly to the vibration of our earthmother within… be one with our Mother as she holds and nurtures us… as you continue deep breathing, begin to bring that connection, that energy up to your heart chakra, noticing the energy, the vibration of the earth as it expands within your heart, within our one heart…

witness any thoughts, feelings or emotions releasing them with love and ease… feel your heart expanding with each breath… pulling in the energy and vibration of our earthmother, notice your heart to expanding with light, love, and peace…

light, love, peace… our heart opening and expanding with each breath… light, love, peace… connecting with the earth, with nature, with all beings… light, love, peace… witnessing the intelligence within every living being…

as we breathe we are connecting with all that is, with earth and sky, oceans and mountains, all beings and the cosmos which surrounds us… we are one with all… light, love, peace… expanding and connecting with all… gradually bringing our awareness back to our heart, notice the steady beating of life, the rich fullness and the expansion…

now lay your hand upon your heart and notice any thoughts or feelings and then release these thoughts with ease bringing your focus back to the breath…

gradually feel your breath bringing your attention back to your first chakra noticing the energy of the Mother holding us quietly and still… with great gratitude and love, release the energy and vibration back to the earth saying, thank you, thank you, thank you for sustaining us and holding us as one and thank you for your gifts of light, love and peace…

slowly and with great ease, notice your hands and feet, wiggle your toes and gradually open your eyes simply sitting for a few moments and witnessing deeply our connection with our earthmother and all living beings…

may we always be silently drawn by the stronger pull of surrendering to love… blessed bee…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 287 – 9/29/2021

i re-member a lucid dream five years ago right in this moment of eternity, a dream of a tidal wave extending from the ocean floor to the vast sky, a wave commanding rapt attention and intention… in the ensuing five (quintessential) years, i have devoted  the energy flowing through me to gathering the quintessence, the essence of love…

let’s take this moment to conspire, to breathe together in gratitude gathering the quintessence re-membering who we truly are… loving sparks of light… join me now in the field out beyond and deep below with a soft gaze bringing attention and intention to the eyes saying… I am not these eyes and what they see, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

settle into spacious awareness saying… I am not these ears and what they hear, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

breathing in and out and simply being saying… I am not this mouth and what it tastes, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially… I am not these hands and what they touch, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially… I am not this nose and what it smells, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

now noticing thoughts arising and memories saying… I am not these thoughts, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially… I am not these memories, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

now seeing the whole body and feeling the body from within the body saying… I am not this body, I am the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

breathing in feeling simply loving awareness… breathing out letting go of everything except resting in the soul of loving awareness quintessentially…

now, feel this healing light flooding every cell of our being dissolving all rigid, inflexible, habitual ways of being into patterns resonant with quintessential soular consciousness…

let’s pass this gift forward sending the divine light of love through our raised hands… feel the light emanating from your hand and feel this energy of light attracting more and more light, more and more love with every pulse we transmit into ever widening circles…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 286 – 9/28/2021

“Inner silence works from the moment you begin to accrue it. What the old sorcerers were after was the final dramatic, end result of reaching that individual threshold of silence. Some very talented practitioners need only a few minutes of silence to reach that coveted goal. Others, less talented, need long periods of silence, perhaps more than one hour of quietude, before they reach the desired result. The desired result is what the old sorcerers called “stopping the world”, the moment when everything around us ceases to be what it’s always been. This is the moment when sorcerers return to the TRUE nature of man. The old sorcerers always called it ‘total freedom’”
~Don Juan (Carlos Castanada)~

“The world… has forgotten the joys of silence, the peace of solitude which is necessary, to some extent, for the fullness of human living.  Not all…  are called to be hermits, but all…  need enough silence and solitude in their lives to enable the deep inner voice of their own true self to be heard at least occasionally.  When that inner voice is not heard, when man cannot attain to the spiritual peace that comes from being perfectly at one with his own true self, his life is always miserable and exhausting.  For he cannot go on happily for long unless he is in contact with the springs of spiritual life which are hidden in the depths of his own soul.  If man is constantly exiled from his own home, locked out of his own spiritual solitude, he ceases to be a true person…  He becomes a kind of automaton, living without joy because he has lost his spontaneity.  He is no longer moved from within, but only from outside himself.”

~ Thomas Merton ~

The Prayer of the Heart

“To deliver oneself up, to hand oneself over, entrust oneself completely to the silence of a wide landscape of woods and hills, or sea and desert; to sit still while the sun comes up over the land and fills its silences with light….few are willing to belong completely to such silence, to let it soak into their bones, to breathe nothing but silence, to feed on silence, and to turn the very substance of their life into a living and vigilant silence.” ~Thomas Merton~

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 285 – 9/27/2021

equinox is a favorite day of mine and so belatedly i’ll post what i lived on this day of balance and celebration with a beautiful pilgrimage to a sacred valley with the energy of the goddess and the ancestors emanating such serenity and a sense of all is well in the core of the ocean of our interbeing…

equinox mission:

balance the opposites

transmuting either/or into both/and

celebrating unity’s harmony…

breathing in this moment of balance… being balance in this moment of eternity… reflecting yin/yang above/below, light/dark, spirit/matter as one… being one… creating a new vibration of integration… fusing all paths into one golden path dancing the way to the new world of harmony where we breathe in the rhythm of our one heart…

on the portal of equinox, we move deeper into the mystery of balancing the opposites in the seasonal call of harvesting ripened fields and planting new seeds, we pause in the moment of equal night and day experienced by all gaian inhabitants… on this holy day, may we reap an inner harvest and appreciate a cornucopia of blessings…may we be gratitude embodied for all that is…

O Gracious Goddess of the Feminine and of all Fertility, we sow and
reap the fruits of our actions….
grant us the courage to plant seeds of joy and love and peace in
the coming year… teach us and show us the secrets
of wise cosmic existence..,
O luminous one of the night!

blessed bee!

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 284 – 9/26/2021

“Empty yourself of everything.  Let the mind rest at peace.  The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return.  They grow and flourish and then return to the Source.  Returning to the Source is stillness, which is the way of Nature.  The way of Nature is unchanging.”  ~Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching~

Invocation of Peace and Harmony

We call all noble-hearted people to find within the light of love and divinity that dwells in them from immemorial times, since their souls have existed.
May this light … expand on the earth showering her face with peace and harmony.
May this light … calm and harmonize the black shadow of war, violence, hate and disharmony .
May this light … fill the hearts of all people and the sites of nations where the shadow of violence has found a place to stay.

May this light reach the hearts and minds of ALL the Heads of State,
of ALL leaders of the revolution from  right to left from north to south.

We extend our profound gratitude to all the Mamos (Shamans) of the world, all men, women and children from  different cultures, races and creeds, from all cardinal directions who have joined us and those who will join us in this effort to raise a prayer for peace and nonviolence .

We wash away the cries of the distressed, the blood of the victims of violence, the pain of their families.

May they be replaced by the innocent laughter of children, the ideals of youth and the wisdom of life of our elders.
May we no longer know the signs of strife: to hear birds singing sorrows, nor watch clouds stained with blood, nor feel breezes intense with heat, nor see rivers swollen by the mountains’ tears .
May new fraternal bonds of unity and peace formed through our invocation together  embrace humanity in harmony with itself and with nature.

every moment is pregnant with the promise of peace… with every breath, consciously practice peace saying/feeling… i am peace, may we all be peace with every breath… for all moments of eternity, we intend deep peace… on my 11 days of re-treat, i followed Lao Tzu’s sage dictum to rest in peace while metaphorically painting peace across the vast skysea…

“If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work.”~Thich Nhat Hanh~

“I offer you peace.
I offer you love.
I offer you friendship.
I see beauty.
I hear your need.
I feel your feelings.
My wisdom flows from the Highest Source.
I salute the Source in you.
Let us work together for unity and love.”
~Gandhi’s Prayer for Peace~

Peace to all beings
Whether near or far
Known or unknown
Real or imaginary
Visible or invisible
Born or yet to be born.
May all beings
Be well and happy
And free from fear.
Peace to all beings
Within and beyond the imagination
In the world of ideas
In the world of memories
And in the world of dreams.
May all beings
Be well and happy
And free from fear.
Peace in all elements
Of earth, air, fire and water
Fulfilled in space
Peace.
Peace in all universes
From the smallest cells in our bodies
To the greatest galaxies in space
Peace
And light rising
Peace to all beings
Within each being here
To those beings that have been in the past
And to those beings that are yet to be in the future
May all beings
Within each being here
Be well and happy
And free from fear.”

~Buddhist Prayer~

“The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Taka (the Great Spirit), and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.”
~ Black Elk ~

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 283 – 9/25/2021

it’s now the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the dreaming in the rhythm of waves re-treat when i’ve let go of everything to simply be in the moment opening to the clear light to dreamweave the world awake while running with the waves along the liberation pathless path…

so many favorite days in surrendered to love september and there are three in a row – the full harvest moon in pisces, the international day of peace and equinox – that i must sing…

immediately, it became clear to me this re-treat was all about dreamweaving the world awake and this harvest moon bathed in dreamy piscean waters is a perfect catalyst… i had many images in mind but then the winds blew in this prescient image i had made some seven years before and the wind spirits delivered it right after a lucid dream of running with the waves feeling so wild and free and so aligned with the rhythm of the perfect moment to merge with the sea, to surrender into the devocean of interbeing…

join me in these sacred waters reveling in the luminosity of the clear light
dreamweaving the world of wisdom and wonder awake…

we are dreamweavers
whole and holy
wild and free.
gatekeepers of divinity

the sacred waters of the cosmic wombspace reveal
the dreams we carry, the dreams forgotten,
the dreams long remembered…

as holy vessels of heaven/earth, we surrender our entire
being for these dreams to be heard, felt, called forth,
woven into the sacred web of life for the greatest good of all beings…

this is a sacred commitment to live our devocean…

this is our starseed destiny…

into the watery womb, speak a dream aloud that you are actively tending for yourself and the collective…
take a deep breath feeling into the energies present and listening for nature’s response…

as spirit and matter merge,
and the mythic and mundane together re-weave,
it is done, it is done, it is done…

we are dreamweavers
dreaming the world awake
here and now
always and forever…

and so it is, and so it is, and so it is…
blessed bee, blessed bee, blessed bee…

Poetic Peace Pilgrimage – Year 8 – Day 272 – 9/14/2021

every outbreath, an emptying… every inbreath, a re-membering…

this almost ides of september seems an especially potent day of calling many of us to let go, to surrender all to love and though i have had a daily practice of this mantra for going on seven turns around the sun, for the last many sun rises and sunsets, the call to leap into the unknown trusting in the wings, the sheltering arms to appear has been so emphatic… so, i’ve been listening to great spirit blessing adventuring into new spaces, wide open places of true refuge, coming home to our one heart and i’m going to act accordingly…

meaning that i’m going to unplug to take in fully the nourishment of the earth and
the clarity of light to flow
harmoniously in rhythm with the tides of life
under the protection of the ancestors
while a slow
wind whispers words
of love all around encircling
us and wrapping us in the wonder of great mystery weaving a web of life where we all know
we are one body, many cells belonging to each other…

happy rainbow trails to all until we meet again…
