Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 79 – 3/5/2017

it’s the moment for our weekly segment of an image showing us the astonishing lightness of our being and what is more astonishing than this iconic view of our island home taken twenty-seven years ago… as Carl Sagan said…

Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every ‘superstar,’ every ‘supreme leader,’ every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

bathed in the phosphorescence of ocean’s vast space…. amazing!

letting go of old

wandering into unknown

guided by love

~

and, not all who march forth in these uncertain times despair; we are made for these times which call out the best in us…

The most remarkable feature of this historical moment on Earth

is not that we are on the way to destroying the world –

we’ve actually been on the way for quite awhile.

It is that we are beginning to wake up, as from a millennia-long sleep,

to a whole new relationship to our world, to ourselves

and each other.

~Joanna Macy~

listen, take courage as Howard Zinn elucidates right way of being in these times…

An optimist isn’t necessarily a blithe, slightly sappy whistler in the dark of our time. To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places- and there are so many- where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.

take peace with the words of Desmond Tutu…

You and I are made for goodness. You and I are creatures who were made for transcendence, were made for love, were made for caring, were made for embracing one another… And that is what is going to prevail.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 77 – 3/3/2017

oh, pilgrim co-hearts, are you feeling the dynamic energy of moving march under this moon of inspired action? perhaps, you can sense i’m feeling it, and so, i want to feature my go van gogh pony from the trail of painted ponies from the land of enchantment… this pony is inspired action voyaging through the starry sky devocean… oh, what a lovely ride across the painted sky… let’s go!

But the true voyagers are only those who leave
Just to be leaving; hearts light, like balloons,
They never turn aside from their fatality
And without knowing why they always say: “Let’s go!”

~ Charles Baudelaire ~

 may we travel lightly

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 76 – 3/2/2017

deep dark mystery

dances with infinite luminosity

in spacious emptiness

~

moving into march, traveling in the quantum field is a walk in deep dark mystery, a sauntering along a path unknown, a leap of faith, a dancing with infinite luminosity, a resting in the gap, in the sacred space of silence, in the stillpoint…

in this field beyond words, beloved appears to those patient waiters ready to be breathed alive, to the hollow reeds open to being conduits of divine flow inspiring our taking one more step, encouraging our sitting tenderly in the moment with our feelings, our ancestral feelings, our descendants’ feelings all merging in the one cosmic devocean of now…

in this solitude, in this divine alchemical flowing temple, the daft (divine alchemical flow team) transmute our shadowlands into gardens of grace… watered by our tears, we blossom like flow-ers opening to the light and revealing the sparkling jewel, the polished star pearl of the sea, radiantly resting in the center of the bloom…

here in the black hole of great silence, in the dancing stillness of great mystery, we stand at the portal of a brave new world where we’re called to courageously collide with the old and break our one heart wide open letting go of everything, giving birth to the new…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 75 – 3/1/2017

in the pacific northwest, today we move into march gentle like a lamb under this waxing new moon of inspired action… i’m feeling inspired to move into march as freespirit racing with the wind into a new beginning and a new blessing from John O’Donohue… as much as i love his New Beginning which i’ve been using on the first of the month for so many moons, for moving march, it’s a perfect moment to move into a  poem for all pilgrims on the spirit path… happiest of trails, beloveds, as we adventure into march wandering into wonder

Every time you leave home,
Another road takes you
Into a world you were never in.

New strangers on other paths await.
New places that have never seen you
Will startle a little at your entry.
Old places that know you well
Will pretend nothing
Changed since your last visit.

When you travel, you find yourself
Alone in a different way,
More attentive now
To the self you bring along,
Your more subtle eye watching
You abroad; and how what meets you
Touches that part of the heart
That lies low at home:

How you unexpectedly attune
To the timbre in some voice,
Opening in conversation
You want to take in
To where your longing
Has pressed hard enough
Inward, on some unsaid dark,
To create a crystal of insight
You could not have known
You needed
To illuminate
Your way.

When you travel,
A new silence
Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would
Love to say.

A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time
To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass of your soul
Might direct you toward
The territories of spirit
Where you will discover
More of your hidden life,
And the urgencies
That deserve to claim you.

May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 74 – 2/28/2017

how i love closing each moon, each month, with blessing the space between us… this moon brings an especially touching poignancy to the space between us as this journey into mystery, this pilgrimage into the tiny space of our one heart, the void, the sacred space of emptiness is such a deep dive into the stillpoint of creation…

surrendering to the beloved and trusting in the tenemos of great mother to support and nourish us, we summon the courage to leap into the unknown and relax into the organic, rhythmic flow of the mysterious dance of life…

holding hands in the dark, feeling the waves of our one beating heart, we witness the birth of the new, the promise of every inbreath followed by the re-joy-sing of every outbreath… for in our coming together in the sacred space of our cosmic heart, we change everything, we are transformation dancing to the tune of el canto hondo, the deep soul song… stillness flowing…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 73 – 2/27/2017

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, gives this message on the occasion of Losar, Tibetan New Year:

Any new harvest has an auspicious ability that enables us to bear true joy for ourselves. Why is this the case, when we know that Losar is just another day in this world?

Quite simply, because we make it so! We make this day an auspicious one, not by fortune or chance, but by sheer will.

Every day is as insignificant as a wish-fulfilling jewel. Yes, today is just like another piece of rock. However, the wilful recognition of what that day might hold, its true potential, transforms ordinary wisdom into an extraordinary one.

May all of you harvest the potential of this special day, and in all days to come.

~

Losar is the Tibetan New Year, the most important festival in Tibet. It is an occasion when Tibetan families reunite and expect a better coming year. Specially made offerings are offered to family shrine deities; doors are painted with religious symbols; other painstaking jobs are done to prepare for the event.

The first two weeks, in particular, commemorate the time when the Buddha uncharacteristically displayed his power by doing a number of miracles to win over hundreds (if not thousands) of disciples from a teacher who was a non-believer of what the Buddha taught and challenged him to a dual of mystical powers. At the end of the two week period, the Buddha had clearly won the match and as a result all present converted to the practices taught by the Buddha.

The new year spawns a time of increase in virtuous activity amongst Buddhist practitioners. Any actions done during that period of time, for better or worse, are multiplied in their power by virtue of being in alignment or out of alignment with the great deeds the Buddha himself did during this same astrological period over 2,500 years ago. It is a very powerful time to practice and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study as the power of that magical event can be harnessed to assist in our personal evolution towards enlightenment.

To make these fifteen days of miracles the most beneficial:

This is the year of obstacles for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, so please dedicate strongly for His Holiness to have a healthy, stable life and for the quick success of all His Holiness’ holy wishes.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 72 – 2/26/2017

what a perfect image for our weekly installment of showing you the astonishing light of your being… yes, you, like his holiness, showing up as sunshine… yes, you showing up being love… yes, you, being harmonizing healer… thousandfold thanks for being an astonishing light of being… seeing the best in others, spreading lovingkindness virally…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 71 – 2/25/2017

veil lifts, door opens

on divine devotion day

of cosmic dancing bliss

~

yes, today is a day of devotion, of leaping into the void of creation where we lie in the lap of the divine bathed in the bliss of eternal love culminating tonight in the great night of shiva, moment of illumination when what no longer serves is burned away as we dance with the stars who whisper to us of our soul purpose, why we are here awakening us to the song of the true self, to our soul song…

everything is alive… everything is awakening… everything is moving…. everything is dancing… be still, silent… listen….

Setting sun falling

into ocean of being

blessed homecoming

~

Strangers found each other in a field unknown,

now, they sojourn together on the beautyway home

watching flocks of geese migrate as one

breathing in waves that kiss the sun.

~

Now, they sojourn together on the beautyway home

hearts rise up singing while footsteps roam

breathing in waves that kiss the sun

being in rhythm, tuning into hum.

~

Hearts rise up singing while footsteps roam

on the path that’s unfolding and leading us home

being in rhythm, tuning into hum

surrendering and trusting in what’s to come.

being in rhythm, tuning into hum

surrendering and trusting in what’s to come.
