Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 282 – 9/24/2017

one year ago for the weekly edition of sharing the amazing light of being with you, i used this powerful image of the women of peace of standing rock… it seems so appropriate to share a year later on this fourth night celebrating Navaratri, the festival of the Divine Feminine and the very day that the Divine Women Waging Peace begin their journey at the border of Palestine and Israel with humble hearts of forgiveness, carrying prayers for peace… marching together down a long hill and gathering at the Jordan River, the echoes of thousands of mothers, sisters, and daughters can be heard for miles, as they passionately cry out for a better future, for another way, for an end to violence, bloodshed, and terror… as they  raise their voices in Arabic, Hebrew and English, singing a song of peace, may we all across the cosmos join our hands, hearts, and voices together…

From the North to the South
From the West to the East
Hear the prayer of the mothers
Bring them peace
Bring them peace

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 281 – 9/23/2017

as we walk the pathless path of peace deeper into cosmic unity, we re- member a lost chord of the celestial symphony… we are beloved community belonging to each other eternally in the deep peace of of our one heart…

we all be longing to come home to our one heart

to awaken and re-member our original space of belonging

where mother waters sing to us of our true nature

one body, one mind, one heartbeat, one love

welcome home to our belonging circle

welcome home to our ocean of love

~

may we all affirm with our whole being to seek true refuge for all our relatives…

on this day of equinox, we move deeper into the mystery of balancing dark and light in the in between seasons space of summer and winter, of inner harvests and planting new seeds, we pause in the balance as the new world is breathing herself alive…

on this day energized by being equinox, i contemplate balance… on this highest holy day, this day of at one ment, i reap an inner harvest and appreciate a cornucopia of blessings… today i am gratitude embodied for all that is…

O Gracious Goddess of all Fertility, we have sown and
reaped the fruits of our actions….
Grant us the courage to plant seeds of joy and love in
the coming year… Teach us and show us the secrets

yes, let peace begin and let it begin with me and thee this moment by invoking this blessing from the Chinook of the Pacific  Nortwest

Chinook Blessing

We call upon the earth, our planet home, with its beautiful depths and soaring heights,

its vitality and abundance of life, and together we ask that it

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon the mountains, Saddle mountain and Wahkiakum mountain, the Willapa Hills, the summits of intense silence, and we ask that they:

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon the waters that rim the earth, the waters of

Our great river the I-a-gayte-imas, the waters of Willapa Bay,

And all of the waters the flowing [sic] our rivers and streams, the water that falls

Upon us, and we ask that they

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon the land which grows our food, the nurturing

Soil that sustains our lives, we ask that they

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon the forests, the great cedar trees reaching

Strongly to the sky  with earth in their roots and the heavens in their

Branches, cedar tree is the keeper of all

Knowledge, and we ask them to

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon the creatures of the fields and forests and the

Seas, our brothers and sisters Lilu the Wolf, Emulak the elk,

And Mauich the Deer, Chak-cahk the Eagle, the great

Whales and the Sturgeon, and the Salmon people who share

Our Chinook waters

Teach us, and show us the Way.

We call upon all those who have lived on this earth, our

Ancestors and our friends, who dreamed the best for future

Generations, and upon whose lives our lives are built, and

With thanksgiving, we call upon them to

Teach us, and show us the Way.

And lastly, we call upon all that we hold most sacred, the

Presence and power of the Great Spirit

Which flows through all the Universe, to be with us to

Teach us, and show us the Way.

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 278 – 9/20/2017

today, the eve of International Peace Day, is one of the most intense and overwhelming days ever as i continue to face a challenge i feel totally incapable of meeting, beloved, this is too much, i can’t do it… true that, thanks be i don’t have to, the source of all that is, the self-organizing cosmos has my back… so as whirling winds bring so many obstacles/gifts, i take one more step and one more step… by the time i arrive home, despair is transmuting into e-joy-sing… i invite you to join me in this metta practice in this moment, any moment, every moment…

~

This meditation uses words, images, and feelings to evoke a lovingkindness and friendliness toward oneself and others. With each recitation of the phrases, we are expressing an intention, planting the seeds of loving wishes over and over in our heart.

With a loving heart as the background, all that we attempt, all that we encounter will open and flow more easily.  Let yourself sit in a comfortably. Let your body rest and be relaxed. Let your heart be soft. Let go of any plans or preoccupations.

Begin with yourself. Breathe gently, and recite inwardly the following traditional phrases directed toward our own well-being. You being with yourself because without loving yourself it is almost impossible to love others.

May I be filled with lovingkindness.

May I be safe from inner and outer dangers.

May I be well in body and mind.

May I be at ease and happy.

As you repeat these phrases, picture yourself as you are now, and hold that image in a heart of lovingkindness. Or perhaps you will find it easier to picture yourself as a young and beloved child. Adjust the words and images in any way you wish. Create the exact phrases that best open your heart of kindness. Repeat these phrases over and over again, letting the feelings permeate your body and mind. Practice this meditation for a number of weeks, until the sense of lovingkindness for yourself grows.

Be aware that this meditation may at times feel mechanical or awkward. It can also bring up feelings contrary to lovingkindness, feelings of irritation and anger. If this happens, it is especially important to be patient and kind toward yourself, allowing whatever arises to be received in a spirit of friendliness and kind affection. When you feel you have established some stronger sense of lovingkindness for yourself, you can then expand your meditation to include others. After focusing on yourself for five or ten minutes, choose a benefactor, someone in your life who has loved and truly cared for you. Picture this person and carefully recite the same phrases:

May you be filled with lovingkindness.

May you be safe from inner and outer dangers.

May you be well in body and mind.

May you be at ease and happy.

Let the image and feelings you have for your benefactor support the meditation. Whether the image or feelings are clear or not does not matter. In meditation they will be subject to change. Simply continue to plant the seeds of loving wishes, repeating the phrases gently no matter what arises.

Expressing gratitude to our benefactors is a natural form of love. In fact, some people find lovingkindness for themselves so hard, they begin their practice with a benefactor. This too is fine. The rule in lovingkindness practice is to follow the way that most easily opens your heart.

When lovingkindness for your benefactor has developed, you can gradually begin to include other people in your meditation. Picturing each beloved person, recite inwardly the same phrases, evoking a sense of lovingkindness for each person in turn.

After this you can include others: Spend some time wishing well to a wider circle of friends. Then gradually extend your meditation to picture and include community members, neighbors, people everywhere, animals, all beings, the whole earth.

Finally, include the difficult people in your life, even your enemies, wishing that they too may be filled with lovingkindness and peace. This will take practice. But as your heart opens, first to loved ones and friends, you will find that in the end you won’t want to close it anymore.

Lovingkindness can be practiced anywhere. You can use this meditation in traffic jams, in buses, and on airplanes. As you silently practice this meditation among people, you will come to feel a wonderful connection with them – the power of lovingkindness. It will calm your mind and keep you connected to your heart.

on this new moon of manifestation, may we all sit, stay and heal as we listen for the cosmic soul song…

may we honor all our relatives re-membering we are love, loved, beloved…

may peace flow…

~

every moment is pregnant with the promise of peace… with every breath, may we practice peace, we are peace, may we all be peace with every breath… for all the moments of today and the next two days, globally, we  are intending deep peace culminating on thursday with the International Day of Peace… may we join with all that is in a heartfelt effort to be peace for our cosmos.

~

New Moon in Virgo Peace Invocation

We call on all noble hearts to find within the light of love and divinity that dwells in them from time immemorial, since their souls have existed…
May this light … expand on the earth showering her face with peace and harmony…
May this light … calm and harmonize the black shadow of war, violence, hate and disharmony…
May this light … fill the hearts of all and the sites of nations where the shadow of violence has found a place to stay.

May this light reach the hearts and minds of ALL the Heads of State,
of ALL leaders of the revolution from  right to left from north to south…

We extend our profound gratitude to all the Mamos (Shamans) of the world, all men, women and children from  different cultures, races and creeds, from all cardinal directions who have joined us and those who will join us in this effort to raise a prayer for peace and nonviolence…

We wash away the cries of the distressed, the blood of the victims of violence, the pain of their families.

May they be replaced by the innocent laughter of children, the ideals of youth and the wisdom of life of our elders.
May we no longer know the signs of strife: to hear birds singing sorrows, nor watch clouds stained with blood, nor feel breezes intense with heat, nor see rivers swollen by the mountains’ tears…
May new bonds of unity and peace form through our reciting this invocation together  embracing humanity in cosmic harmony…

one by one, breath by breath, moment by moment

each of our individual thoughts words and deeds

transforms the cosmos into beloved communion

as we saunter along the transformative inner pathless path to peace guided by love, we seed the fields of justice…

when we listen deeply, we can hear the re-joy-sing of pachamama just as Rumi did so many moons ago…

on the eve of a potent transformative new moon, let us open our hearts to the joy always bubbling in the core…

If you are seeking, seek us with joy
For we live in the kingdom of joy.
Do not give your heart to anything else
But to the love of those who are clear joy,
Do not stray into the neighborhood of despair.
For there are hopes: they are real, they exist –
Do not go in the direction of darkness –
I tell you: suns exist.

yes, dear Rumi, all our relations are gathering, gathering to speak poetry to power…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 275 – 9/17/2017

for this week’s installation of I wish I could show you the astonishing light of your being, here are four beautiful lights snuffed out so early to shine eternally in consciousness…

fifty-four years ago on this very sunday, a horrific bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama took the lives of these four astonishing lights…

shocking the nation and the world, their tragic deaths marked a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement, ultimately, contributing to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964… instead of provoking a race war, Birmingham Sunday rallied people from around the globe to support the civil rights cause…

today, racist rhetoric is on the rise and terror and violence are once again being used but now, as then, millions of people are standing in love for justice…

in memory of all astonishing lights paving the way for critical progress, we must continue moving forward and bending the arc of the universe towards justice…

Poetic PEACE Pilgrimage – Year 4 – Day 274 – 9/16/2017

as i sit in the dark this week, i feel like a bear in hibernation being nourished by the wisdom stored in the cells now able to activate visions of new birthings, sustainable ways of being in the world…

may we all be nourished to serve for the benefit of all as we dwell in this moment re-membering what really matters…

Look to this day,
for it is life, the very breath of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the realities of your existence;
the bliss of growth,
the glory of action,
the splendor of beauty.
For yesterday is only a dream,
and tomorrow is but a vision.
But today, well lived,
makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow
a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.

though i have a daily practice of this mantra for almost two turns around the sun, sometimes it’s hard to leap into the unknown trusting in the wings, the sheltering arms to appear… that’s when i love flying shamanically to grandmother ocean and listening to her lullabies blessing adventuring into new spaces, wide open places of true refuge, coming home to our one heart…

this ides of september seems an especially potent day of calling so many to let go, to surrender all to love and to re-member to be insightful, give up sight …

Grandmother Ocean Blessingway

May you find in me the Grandmother of the Cosmos.
May my heart be a grandmother’s heart, my waves like a mother’s arms.
May my response to your suffering be a mother’s response to your suffering.
May I sit with you in the dark, like a grandmother sits in the dark.
May you know through our relationship that there is something that can be trusted.
